Getting a new hairpiece can be daunting, especially if you are fitting it yourself. Many people have gone to a salon or specialist fitting company, like Replique in Sydney, and so they don't see the "factory fresh" hair pieces.
Instead the salon would have washed the hairpiece and dried it. What you receive will look very different to what you are shown at a salon.
Generally we don't wash and trim the hairline of an online hairpiece, so it arrives with a body wave intact that can look alarmingly like a curl, it may also appear to have gaps in the hairpiece, which are just the pattern from when it is set. Here are some photos of a typical hairpiece that will arrive, it looks to have a strong curl and also gaps. Don't panic, these all wash out to be a nice full hair piece.
